For the proper growth of most specialty mushroom species, the substrate must be heat treated prior to cooling and inoculation with the mushroom spawn. This heat treatment reduces the number of competing fungi and bacteria and allows the mushrooms to spread rapidly throughout the substrate. This means more mushrooms, faster - both important considerations for your profitability. Some mushrooms, like the oyster species, do well on pasteurized straw substrates. Other mushrooms, like shiitake, are not as aggressive and require that their sawdust substrate be sterilized. Grain substrates that are used in the production of spawn typically require sterilization. We offer special equipment for each job:
